What are BOTOX® Cosmetic, DYSPORT® and XEOMIN®?

BOTOX® has been used therapeutically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. In 2002, the same formulation - under the label BOTOX® Cosmetic – was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18 to 65.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic, DYSPORT® and XEOMIN® Work?

During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic, DYSPORT® and/or XEOMIN® are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax. The effects are very localized and, when administered by an experienced physician, do not affect your ability to smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression.

Who is a Good Candidate?

For the most part, anyone wishing to improve their appearance by removing wrinkles and lines from their face is a good candidate for BOTOX®, DYSPORT® and/or XEOMIN®. Women who are pregnant or nursing are not recommended to receive BOTOX®, DYSPORT® and/or XEOMIN® treatments, and all candidates must be in good health overall in order to be a qualified candidate.

How Soon Will I See a Difference?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your doctor about what you can expect.

What are the Common Side Effects?

The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients may also experience headaches and other pain around the area of the face where the treatments occurred.

What is a LIP FLIP?

A lip flip is a quick, in-office cosmetic procedure that lasts about 10 to 20 minutes. It involves the injection of Botox into your Cupid’s bow, which is the middle of your upper lip, and into the corners of your mouth. The injection temporarily relaxes the muscles around your lip. This causes the part of your upper lip that’s inside your mouth to “flip” upward and outward, giving your lip a fuller appearance.

What is BABY-BOTOX®?
